Electrical problem
1998 Lincoln Navigator, 5.4L V8, Four Wheel Drive, Automatic transmission, 160000 miles
I have been working on it and seems like one problem arises right as I fix another.
I have had electrical issues with the doorlocks not engaging, the sunroof will not open, the interior lights blink on and off when the driver's side front door is opened. It quits blinking when any other door is opened at the same time.
It was having starting issues. I had the battery tested and it was good. I replaced the solenoid in it seemed to go away, except the auto start sometimes just made a high pitched grinding noise.
I have checked all the fuses, checked the battery, replaced the neutral safety switch, and still nothing. I have tried to start it in neutral as well as park and it doesn't engage anything under the hood, no fuel pump, no clicking for the starter, and no compressor going for the air suspension. (The air suspension compressors normally came on before the starter was engaged.)
The interior blower for the HVAC works, the radio works, the instrument panel comes on normally, the door locks still sometimes work, sometimes don't and I am just stumped. Before I spend the money on a new ECM, does anyone have any idea what it may be other than a new computer??
