1998 Honda CRV Battery problem Sign In

The battery went dead in my mother in laws car yesterday and when I replaced the battery the car started fine. Now there is a clicking noise and the parking thru drive icon is flahing depending what position you have it in. When you trun the car off and remove it keeps clicking for 10 to 15 seconds then stops it sounds like the emergency flashers but it is not them. It starts back when you crank the car. I have undone the battery and I have even touched the 2 connectors together still clicks and flashes. I tought it might have something to do with an anti theft feature but the manual for this book doesn't show that it has one. The clicking noise is coming from the drivers side in the dash right beside the door.

This is too hard to diagnose over the internet. you are going to have to take it in to a mechanic to get it checked. It sounds like a short in the dash, thats what the clicking would be. Sorry I couldn't help further.

Thanks for the advice. I found out today this car used to have a key remote for the doors. Found that and pushed button and it reset the anti theft. Problem fixed.
