1997 ford ranger no fan controls Sign In

I have a 1997 ford Ranger. There is no air condition, just basic heat, anyway I lost the low and meduim fan control. That left me only with high. I replace the Blower Motor Resistor and pig tail ( because it was so rusted) still nothing.I took the blower motor out and jumped it the blower works fine, checked continuntiy from the new tail it looks fine, any other ideas what be wrong? Also when I first start the truck I here a beeping sound coming from under the glove box this beeps for about 30 sec. than quitsit starts beeping again after about 45 minutes of driving.

I'm really surprised that the resister didn't fix that. That pretty much leaves the blower switch but that is rare.

Sure, you need a test light that indicates ground instead of power. Unplug the resister and test at the plug. Every speed you select should supply ground to a different wire.

If I unplug the resistor there are 4 conectors in the plug. I should insert the test light in each connector 1 at a time and turn the fan control to each setting there are 4 settings on my ranger, also should the battery be connected? Thanks for your help

Yes, of course the battery should be connected and the key on. Remember that you are testing for ground, not power.

Ditto that makes 2 of us....

Now I'm assuming this was a new (from a parts store or dealer) resistor & not a used one.....

Sure to test the light that you are using to check for ground, just make sure you have a good connection to your power source & touch any metal piece, that should ground it & light up your light.....

I told you 3 times that you need a light that reads ground and you apparently can't comprehend how to read ground. Take the wire from your test light and attach it to a power source and touch the light to the body. Now, you're reading ground.
