1997 chevy cavalier starter won't turn over

post icon 1997 chevy cavalier starter won't turn over Sign In

the batery is good.put in a new starter but not sure if i got all the wires on.how many sould there be.it's a 2.2 liter,150,000 miles.i didn't put the starter in so am not sure it's right.The solanold dosen't even click when you turn the key.

It would probably be best to back up on this one and tell what the original problem was that made you change your starter..

At the minimum there would be 2 wires going to the solenoid. A big battery wire and small trigger wire. The trigger wire needs to have 12v on it when the key is turned to the start position. If it doesn't have power, then nothing is going to happen when you try to start it...

IT'S FIXED.Thanks for the info on the trigger wire i traced it back to the relay by the radiator and found the ground wire not connected(I didn't put the new starter in)who ever did must have forgoten it.thanks again you saved me some cash!

Good job on tracking down the problem with such little info given on the system..... And thx 4 taking the time to come back & let us know what fixed the problem.....
