Hi Dan - toi,

Dan - this states "Suburban" not "Subaru" and the 97s I know of use the same bulb. I had this on "watch" as I wanted to see what might be said and have some thoughts now on this. What confused me is that it sugests this happens on both sides??

Ok: First note was that the dash indicator is blinking fast without blowing the fuse?? Ok: I think somehow the directional/brake filiment or wire to either is trying to empower the running lights. Could this be both bulbs are wrong and happen to fit? Don't know that one. This probably came with trailer wiring from factory all wrapped up in the back and ready to tap into or buy an adaptor. My bet is both wrong bulbs or a problem with trailer wiring.

For toi - you might notice the running lights dimly blink right now as it is,

T

Thanks Dan and Tom,

Tom thx for directing w/Dan that its a suburban and not Subaru. Thx anyway Dan.

Tom,

The bulbs are the right ones but for some odd reason at the same time I noticed the blinkers on the dash blinking rapidly, the brake lights and signals in back stop working??? I was checking the plastic bulb holsters and fuses again last night and they are fine, from what I can tell at least.

By chance would you know where I might find the wiring for tow and back lights at?

Thanks,
Toi

You may not have that tow wiring but two - 96 and 97 did and it was up under the back tighed up on a support forward of the bumper. It had a plug on it that isn't the standard 4 wire trailer and I have just used that twice to make the simple four wire job up. Surely what was there OE was set up for electric brakes or something which I never needed.

Again - the fact that you aren't blowing a fuse means the drain is not enough to blow it but enough to make the flasher go fast which hooking up a trailer with lights does anyway without changing the flasher. If somehow the power got thru the bright filiment and tried to power the running lights I think that could happen. Dan would know better but I think the wires are colored with some uniform standard like .... green is right brake and directional, yellow for left (could have that reversed) brown is for running lights and white is for ground. If no power was being used up the flasher wouldn't flash. It's probably just some silly thing back there??

What do I know - I have days I can't replace a wiper bladeSmile
