Hi,
My Name is Brock I own a 1997 Chevy Blazer 4X4 with an S-10 motor It has 97,000 miles. Months ago I was driving down the road and I notice both of my head lights begin to basically flicker simultaneously from on to off then back on and off like I am an emergency vehicle. No it happens when I am bout 5 to 10 minutes into my drive. It makes a horrible clicking noise in my glove box. So I first thought it was possibly the relay… so I replaced all 3 cheap fix but it didn’t work. So I was told it could be corroded ground wires or the wires connecting to the battery. So I cleaned everything up they almost look brand new and I am still having the flickering problem starting about 5 to 10 minutes into having my lights turned on. It is winter here and I thought it could also be because the heater is on so hot maybe it was doing something to the relay but I had my truck in a temp controlled garage without the heat going and still after about 5 minutes the lights began to flicker like crazy….I would love some help on this issue. Thank you so much.

Thanks,

Brock

Guess: Grounds to body aren't adequately clean or broken/dirty. OK to add ground straps such that body metal is all well grounded but know you are just adding or repairing ground to engine block (or items directly bolted to it) which must be well grounded to battery negative,

My Blazer did the same thing it was the headlight switch. We changed it and I have not had a problem since.

Mine was the headlight switch too. Been running the new one three weeks without a flash. Had all the same problems and picked one up at autozone.com for 18 bucks. I opened the old one before I tossed it and it was full of a green corrosion that was shorting it out. If you had a good copper cleaner to clean the contacts you might be able to get by with a cleaning. It took about 5 minutes to change the switch and appreciate the other post so I didn't have to waste my money on new relays because the where clicking too. The clicking stopped as soon as the new switch was in.
