1996 Mazda MX-6 Headlamp turn signals issue

Hello, I recently purchased a 1996 Mazda MX-6. There is a problem with the headlights. The low beam suddenly stopped working, it only switches on when the left turn signal is turned on. The high beams work, but cut out when the left turn signal is on. What could it be? I was told it could be the headlamp switch and rushed ahead and bought a used turn/wiper (combined) replacement part. Would replacing it fix this problem or is it an issue with wiring. Thanks

Sounds like a bad combination switch. All those functions are all incorporated into that one switch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

So the complete replacement should work?

We don't generally change parts on assumptions. We physically test the wiring but the odds are good with yours.

The mechanic tested the contacts and suggested the headlamp switch. I'll see if it works. Thanks for your feeback!

The headlamp switch is the combination switch I don't know about a used one though. There can be many different ones depending on the car's options.
