1995 Chevy Camaro Will Not Get No Fire Sign In

1995
Chevrolet
Camaro
3.4L
V6

One day I was driving the car to go buy a pack of cigarettes from the store. Well when I came to the red light my car just cut off on me. I tried cranking it and it would not start and I had to have it towed home. It has new spark plugs in it. I just recently put brand new spark plugs on the car and it did not crank. Then I tried replacing all my coilpacks and it still did not fire. Then I crawled under the car and got the Crank Position Sensor off of it and went and bought a new one. Well when I got home and put it on the car it still did not get any fire. All of this has ran me broke and I have called around and a lot of people told me that it could either be my coilpacks or my fuel pump. But i checked my Coilpacks and it was not them and I also had my modulate tested and it was good. My fuel pump on the other hand kicks on when you try to turn the car over and i can push the fuel release valve and gas will shoot out of it, so I know that it is getting gas. I don't know what else could be wrong with this car and I have tried everything that I could. If you have any suggestions or know what it is PLEASE let me know because it is the only car I have. The car will turn over but it will not start as if it is not getting any fire.

Re: 1995 Chevy Camaro Will Not Get No Fire Sign In

When you finish throwing parts at it, here is how it's diagnosed.

All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment.
If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money.

Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for.

These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on.

2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on.

3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.

4) If all of these things check good, then you would need to do a complete compression test.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

Thank you for your feedback. I am not a mechanic so therefore I was wondering how you would do #1 #2 and #4. My aunt who has worked on cars her whole life checked for fire off of the plug wires. She took a screwdriver and tested to see if they was getting fire, the coilpacks showed no fire but the thing is is that somedays before i started putting parts on the car I could go outside and crank it and it would fire right up. Sometimes the car would crank but it would shut back off. Yesterday I went and cranked the car and it started and I got to give it a little bit of gas and it shut right back off. Somedays it will crank , and if it does it will shut right back off in a matter of seconds and when you go back to try to crank it again it will turn over but it is not getting any fire.

I'm afraid you're gong to have to pay someone to troubleshoot it for you.

Probably so. It has mainly narrowed me down to having someone put it on a computer or tow it to a garage and have them fix it.
