last friday while driving my 95 Buick LeSabre Custom the voltage/ temp and check engine lights rapidly flickered! and the car stalled! ugh! I pulled into a parking lot and it didn't start, it did before as son as it cut off before. I went to get the tool to unhook the battery, when I got back 20 minutes later it worked. when I step on the brake the voltage/temp lights come on causing the check engine light to come on and off and the car would idle down or cut off. I had the alternator changed, now the car won't start Im sure it turns over and sounds like it wants to start but it won't. I am completely stumped. ps, when the car was started sometimes it would shake and buck even driving and I come to a stop and the check engine light isn't on it would shake and buck, but in the same breath it would run just fine with the light off sometimes I Just don't know, im ready to give up! I was tolled it may be the vacuum hose, o2 sensor or possibly another sensor....if that's even it! somebody help please. the scanner at auto zone doesn't read the computer in the car either. Help! Thank you all and bless everyone!

A code would help. I think you can get a reader for this at even Wally World for like $20 bucks and count blinks as per directions. Mostly you are buying the book that comes with it.

Try not to just toss parts at it with wild guessing. An alternator isn't that cheap to be wrong but that's water over the falls now.

Know that several GMs in the vintage need to "learn" when battery is disconnected which takes a good driver with assorted driving if everything else is right. All the lights might just be that it stalled or while stalling. It still should have fired up though.

The coil pack and the connection to module under it was a problem once back when they were newer. Diagnose it first but look for wiring connections that could be trouble to sensors/items - not a GM strong area.

Keep battery at full charge as when it gets low from trying things it becomes the problem,

T
