I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread but I figured it was close enough:

I need to get into the dashboard/center console of my car and basically I need to know if I need to disconnect my battery first.

I'm going to be fixing my rear defroster button which basically "let go" and fell out of reach.

Will I get electrocuted if I just go in?

(Yes, I'm a car noob)

You should always disconnect the battery before disassembling any electrical area which is most of the car. You will not harm yourself but you can do a lot of damage to the car.
The one place you can really hurt yourself is around the airbag so if you have one of those, then definitely disconnect the battery
