1993 Dodge Dakota 3.9L Tachometer Erratic Sign In

Yesterday my tachometer (OEM) started acting up. The RPM is much higher than normal. Auto transmission shifts normally even in overdrive. I have a Haynes Manual and cannot find out where you pick up the signal. I know it goes through the PCM and some use the distributor as a source. Anyone know exactly where the signal source comes from?

The PCM uses the same reference signal that it uses to run the engine with.
