1990 Saab 900 turbo electrical/no start a Sign In

I was using a 12 volt ceramic plug in heater and running my rear window defroster at the same time. They both stopped working and when I shut the car off it would not restart. I noticed that the fuse was blown for the cigarette lighter sorry placed it in tried to start the car and immediately blew the fuse again. Then I noticed the fuse for the relays was blown. I replaced it and immediately blew while trying to start the car. I tested for power with a test light at the fuse box there was none. Gas gauge also does not work. I do have power at the relay block where the fuel pump relay is but no power from there. Crazy problem just be the fuel pump relay? Internet cause fuses to blow repeatedly without starting the car? Car has 2.0 turbocharged engine with 200,000 miles. Been working on cars all my life but electrical is not my thing. If it has a positive and negative I can do it but anything more than that and no thank you. I would appreciate any assistance I can get

Sounds like you could have melted some wires in the initial overload. You're going to need an electrical expert to track down the problem.

Was watching without much to help. 1. Those (any I've seen) 12V power port heaters of any type put out 1,250+/- BTU which is uselessly low but still draws max power for a power port or cig lighter. One would hope it would just blow the fuse if the correct one was in there.
Late now but just don't use those and in fact despite the reason they put them in don't use cig lighters in anything! I say that because they draw a super high power and rely on heat inside to cancel plus if used to light a product they fill with junk, get damp and short out. Make lousy power ports but that's the size used.
As HT said high bet this will take an auto electric person to chase what and where the weakest spot failed now and make good all the way back whatever it takes. IMO it wasn't in good enough shape to begin with or should have just plain blown a fuse,

the system is pos and neg, SO with a test light or DVOM and a wiring diagram you just follow the circuit-
test light clip to ground is neg and then probe with the tester...
