1990 F-250 won't start.

I accidentally left the cabin light on for a day and the battery was too low to start the truck. I went to jump the truck and placed the cables on the correct terminals on the battery of my truck and the other vehicle, but the cables caught on fire and one of the wires further back in my truck started smoking and turned bright red. after the smoke cleared, the wire that was red hot cooled down and i took a look at it and saw that it severed itself (the terminals on the battery were pretty corroded also, i dont know if that helped contribute). Worrying i lost all power to my truck i went in the truck and the cabin lights turned on so i put the key in and the dash lights came on ( the power gauge showed a very small amount of power, the check engine light, etc. all showed up) but when i turned the key it didn't even make the sound like it was starting. I think the wire that, for lack of a better word, broke was colored green. I was wondering if it was just some part of the ignition that's ruined or something else. any information or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

There's probably more than meets the eye with this. If a wire shorted to burn up like that it probably had the wrong fuse in it. The lights left on explain draining the battery. A weak one could have shorted internally and killed it but it doesn't explain another wire smoking and burning up so it need more investigating IMO,
