I have been having problems with my 1989 Honda Accord not starting. If it sat for anything more than about 12 hours, it wouldn't start. Sometimes it would at least crank, but not turn over, but other times was completely dead. The AAA guy who kept coming to jump it said that the positive terminal connector needed replaced because it was loose and was drawing on the battery when the car was off. So in January, both connectors were replaced along with the battery. The battery that was put in in January was NOT new (was done by a boyfriend) and turned out to be a bad one, so a brand new battery was put in in February. The starter and alternator were checked at that time and determined to be fine. I had had problems with a loose door switch and the dash lights, warning beep, etc. not turning off when the door was shut, so that was the next step. The door switch was replaced last month and the car has run beautifully since then. I could leave it sit for a day or two and it would start just fine. I just got back from a 5-day vacation and when I went to start the car-nothing, nada, not even click-click-click. Completely dead. The dealership is going to check it for a "parasitic draw" (?) but can't get it in until Monday. Is it possible that it going dead so many times before the switch was replaced caused the battery to go bad? It is still under warranty and would be free to replace. If not, then am I likely looking at some kind of electical overhaul that will be worth more than the car? Any ideas or suggestions regarding what to expect (especially re: cost) would be appreciated. Thanks!

Any "parasitic drain" has to be fixed first. If the new battery has been run down to flat many times it won't be happy about that. Seriously - regular automotive batteries are not made to run down low on charge with any routine and will fail because of that but for now that's probably not the up front problem - the drain is......
