Hi there! I have a 1989 Buick Park Avenue. It has around 90K miles on it, and I'm sorry but I don't know enough about cars to know about the engine.

I think the dome light is staying on. It always stays on for a while when I first get out of the car, but it didn't seem to shut off. I turned the dimmer switch down to where the light seemed to go off, but I think it was still on because the battery has completely drained.

A friend told me that if I took the bulb out of the dome light, that would break the circuit and quit draining the battery. Is that true? If not, is this something I should take to a mechanic or is this something I can try and fix myself?

Thank you so much for your input!

homer; A crude way of finding out if it is the interior lamp; Disconnect the negative battery cable. Connect a test light between the negative cable and the battery. (make sure everything is turned off, key out of ignition). Open the driver's door. The test light should illuminate. Close the door, it should go off. If it is illuminated all of the time, remove said bulb. If the light goes out, then that is your problem. Could be as simple as a door switch.
