1988 ford Ranger ignition switch adjustment? Sign In

1988 Ford Ranger 2.0 4 cylinder Manual tranny has an ignition switch that kicks in the starter as soon as you turn past the run position and sometimes the starter will stay engaged. I installed a new ignition switch and it does the same thing. I can't see where there is any adjustment to the metal rod. Any body had this problem and know how to correct it? Thanks...Crazy

elbo; Attached is an exploded view of the column. Doesn't appear to have any adjustment on the ignition switch. Or the rod. If this is a tilt column and has a bunch of play in it, could be the problem?

The switch should have oblong mounting holes. Slide the switch either way to make it work properly. If the holes are just round, enlongate them to give you adjustment.
