1988 Silverado - Driver side signal doesn't flash Sign In

WE have an 88 silverado and the driver side turn signal will not flash. Replaced the bulb and still no flash. The passenger side works fine and the front driver side works fine too. Neither of the backup lights come on. Is it in the wiring?

Do the lights lite up but not flash? Back-up lights may be a separate issue. Check any trailer wiring where things may have been tapped or spliced in. That can be a common source of problems,

The lights do light up. There is a four point connector that has a corroded point (light green wire lead). I think that that goes to the b/u lights.

You meant 4 point trailer wiring right? Green is right turn and brake, yellow is left turn and brake, brown is running lights, white is ground as a standard for those. Vehicles with amber directions in the rear need an adaptor box if going to a four wire trailer.

What makes the flasher do it's thing is load on it. That's why when a bulb is out it won't flash on that side. With a trailer some people use a HD flasher as it flashes to quickly with all those lights. If bulbs for some reason are the wrong wattage it could screw up just that side and still light up.

There can be probs in the switching in the steering column but I don't think so yet with this. If that was it - just jockeying around with the turn signal lever would have an impact.

Clean up the connection you found anyway just for good measure.

This does work if you manually flash the directionals doesn't it?
