My truck doesn't make a single sound when I turn the key in the ignition and the radio/ lights won't come on at all It has been stuck in my parking lot for 5 weeks now as I've gone over these various things: - I bought a multiplier and tested the voltage across the battery and it currently reads 12.4V. - I pulled out every fuse and checked them one by one - Checked every connection and ground wire I could find - Ruled the alternator out as even the headlights won't turn on I found the following break in the wiring and I was wondering if you guys had any idea if it could be the cause of everything electrical being down (or what it is): I found this - http://s8.postimage.org/...srazo/broken_off.jpg Which has broken off of this - http://s8.postimage.org/f12m280v8/from_here.jpg And is supposed to go in here - http://s8.postimage.org/...934v8/go_in_here.jpg It probably didn’t help that this is how things looked when I found them - http://s8.postimage.org/.../before_cleaning.jpg

That is a sensor, possibly temp, that is broken. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You have issues with both key off and key on accessories. The common point is going to be the fuse box. Find the main power lead and see if there is power at it. Use the meter and see if its the same as battery voltage. Then put the lead you had on the ground to battery positive and turn the headlight switch and ignition switch to on. Note the reading on the meter. At that point you will be measuring the voltage drop of the circuit, or how much has been lost between the battery and the point you are hooked to at the other end. Anything over .3v is reason to look into it, but for none of this stuff to work at all you'd have to have a lot of drop. Do the same test on the ground side both engine and body back to battery ground. While the circuit is under load (or in your case attempting to be under load) this test shows the intergrity of the connections and the condition of the wire easily. I would also note that coming from the connections at the main terminal of the starter are fusible links. Should they burn out you may not be able to visually see them as there is likely a lot of grime on the wires. Clean them up very well and see if any pull apart. If any do you need to replace the fusible link section. Don't go just putting plain wire in there. If something surged enough to fry a link it will give you an electrical fire if the circuit isn't protected.

That wasn't the point - the pics showed a sensor as HT said. That alone wouldn't be the reason for no power to anything. Follow Nick's tests and by the looks in general there will be more things to fix when power is back up. Testing just battery bolts for voltage is fine but GM side posts hidden eyelet under hard rubber cover may reveal they are about gone or no continuity from the get go, T

I checked the battery again this morning and has dropped to 2V since my first post. I replaced the alternator and everything is back up and running! :) Resolved!
