What possessed you to put dissimilar metal heads on an iron block? That will serve to just make it subject to head gasket problems - should have left that alone. Almost everything does that now and it stinks.

Whatever engine it should have a even then old GM HEI distributor. If no spark is the issue the module inside might be trouble or blew. If would state what is now wrong it would help.

Did you mean it won't start because of no spark or the trigger wire for starter isn't working?

It would be nice to know which engine we're working on here.

IDK - If it worked before the head replacement with a pinched wire than retrace that whole job for what else got messed up, wires yanked or whatever. The rubber block that passes the wiring to cab could be a problem with all that doesn't work now.

This truck being a 1986 would not be street legal in MA where I live,

Check the fusible links at the starter.

I would like to thank the both of you for your time i found the problem it wasnt a fusible link it was a simple broken wire coming off the dist. on the firewall there is a 3 way fusible link one going to the alternator and one going to the interior fuse box it was about 4 inches from the fusible link on the wire going to the fuse box everything works fine now thanks greatlyCool
