Hey

#1 wanger sealed beam 2A1
#2 wanger sealed beam 1A1
#3 wanger sealed beam 1A1
#4 wanger sealed beam 2A1
I drive 1983 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CLASSIC 4DEstateWagon V8-305ci 5.0L 4 BBL Vin H #3165.
Week ago #1 low light stop working. Now when I start my low light from the light switch beside the wiper switch #1 & #4 high light start work, #2&#3 not starts as usual. But when I hit the high light switch on my steering #1 don't work&#4 starts the low light, #2&#3 works.
I thought there's some technology which did this thing, and when I install anew light in #1 socket I thought it will back and work normally but its not.
There's some thing I need to do to rest the setting.

Nice pic by the way! The most common issue with these WAS the spade of the sealed beam didn't make a good contact with the plug and or corrosion of the plug. Highs have two spades - lows have three like all similar bulbs for years then.

Sometimes carefully twisting on the spade (actually putting some bend but not too much) and some WD-40 in the plug will solve erratic, dim bulbs etc. I'd go there first before blaming too much else. If that help but not cures I think new plugs can be had to solder in,

when you do put the plugs together, be sure to put dielectric grease in the cavities to keep any future corrosion from happening. Costs pennies, only takes a second and saves a lot of headaches down the road.

Thanks,
Highs have two spades - lows have three like all similar bulbs for years then.
The low have three, have two light bulbs in the single sealed lamp. One start on the low mode
And the other starts on the high mode.
The problem is the different is happen, the high one start on the low mode and the low one start on
The high mode.
Some one told me to replace the wires places in the plug, but I didn't.

? Sealed beams with four headlight system was universal except they did have some round ones and a couple smaller ones. This system should be the high beams - inner bulbs only work at all with high beam request. The smaller bulb switches filaments inside between a low and a high beam and all four would light up with high.

One wire to each bulb is ground, the rest are power as directed but if a plug is that messed up it could cross and make them go nuts.

If plug (the car's plug and wires) are messed up I've still and did when all these were newer just use junkyard ones to splice in. Haven't pursued it but new ones should be available aftermarket especially since (here) so many cars of the vintage were lost when metal prices were way up. Same plug for anything - car or not that uses the same bulb,
