The parking lights were still on when it happened. I pushed the light knob in so they were in the off position and then pulled it back out and the headlights came back on. It did not do it agin for a year. So it started to do it agin recently and i can not figure out what it is so i bought a new headlight switch and im not sure if that will fix it or not plus i cant figure out how to get to the switch and replace it Sidom Veteran / Moderator Sep 14, 2010, 9:09 PM Post #2 of 5 (1724 views) Re: 1980 thunderbird headlights flicker on and off Sign In That sounds more like a ground problem but since you already have the switch give it a shot..... This one is too old for my database but if I remember correctly, there is a button on the switch you push down and then you will be able to pull the knob out. Then you can unscrew the securing nut and take the switch out... If a knob you pull there's a tiny spring loaded push button and whole shaft will come out. Getting your hand on that button is another story! And by the way thanks fellas for the held this is prob one of the most complicated cars ive ever had.. so the tips realy help thanks...
