What may have happened is it couldn't hold a charge much at all - do try and charge it if newer or charge any used now for further testing. Guess: You mean lights as in "interior" lights or something else - headlights?? Interior lights might be delayed when door opened type thing and possibly when battery is low enough the timer can't even shut off! T Note: Fully discharged batteries take HIT just from being run down when newer and can kill a marginal one.
