Hi,

Silverado 2002
V6 4.3
63,340 miles

I have a Pioneer 12 CD player installed with a Pioneer Head unit. Installed both when purchased and both have worked well until recently. The head unit continues to work, however the 12 CD is having power issues.

What I've found so far with the switch position;
Accessory - works 99% of the time
On(not started) - same as above
On(started) - works some times for days, works and will shut off, will not work at all.

Is this a problem with the ignition switch? Where is it? How do I test it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How did you tap into power for these? Check that connection. They do lots better when soldered and shrink tubing over the solder. Check that first,

Tom,

Thanks for the quick response!

There were not any wires cut for install and the units have worked for 5 years with out any problems.

Head Unit.
I used the supplied wiring harness from Crutchfield for the head unit, to convert from Pioneer to GM. All of the harness connections were soldered and heat shrinked. As of now, there has been no problems on the head unit.

For the CD changer I aquired some "GM" lug connectors and connected in the electrical "bus" to the left of the driver's foot, to a keyed (switched) post. This connection was soldered, I didn't put any heat skrink on it yet. After this problem started happening, I located another keyed circuit and was able to use it for awhile, but it also is having problems.
