2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4 88xxx Wife was driving home and the car shut off. The lights, radio, hazard blinkers all stayed on. She couldn't get it to start again. When she turned the key to "Start" nothing happened, no crank, no click, no turning. When I showed up I tried starting it and it actually turned over and ran for 25 seconds and then died again. Got it home and started troubleshooting. I tried the "key dance" to see if I could get any codes that might have been thrown but nothing was able to come up. Usually if there isn't anything to display, it will just show "DONE". I replaced the ignition switch thinking that was the culprit but that didn't do anything. I checked all the fuses and relays that would involve ignition and they all checked out fine. I also checked the neutral switch by turning the key to "Run", put the car in Neutral, and try to take the key out that it shouldn't if everything was in working order and it didn't come out so I'm guessing thats fine. Plus, I tried starting it in Neutral to no avail either. In my metering frenzy I did notice that I'm not getting any voltage to the starter relay when turning the key to "start". Shouldn't I be getting 12.4 or so? If I am, what could be the possible causes of that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried cleaning the battery terminals? At the battery and at the ground. Have the battery checked.

The battery is less than 4 months old, terminals are clean, ground checks out fine. I have a couple things I'm gonna try today.

Ok I tested out my starter relay terminals. The coil battery terminal (86). It's saying it could be a faulty, open, or shorted wire between the ignition switch and the starter relay. I'll keep you posted.
