02 Jeep grand cher turns signals working "sometimes" Sign In

I just bought an 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 4.0 liter with 78000 miles on it less than a month ago.

Around the 2nd week I got in the car to drive home from work(1/2 mile at most) and my turn signals were not working at all(the lights on the dash along with the exterior lights). Now with only 2 turns on the drive home i didn't mess with it until i got home. The first thing i tried when i got home was Emergency flashers...all lights inside and out were flashing correctly. I started turning on and off all the options in the car to check to see if anything else wasn't working. Sunroof worked fine, Heaters in the leather seats, AC, Defrosters, radio, Headlights. When i checked the headlights i turned them from "Auto" to On and the Turn signals started working correctly. They worked fine for another week or so when it happened again. Tried all the previous options including a few others(power mirrors, power seat, wipers) Everything else in the car was working correctly. Left the car for a few hours, came back and the turn signals were working correctly again. 2 Days ago(yet again about a week later) They still aren't working. The Fuse is still good...Any ideas on why they aren't working?

With you saying that after you played with the headlights, the signals began to work; I’m leaning towards a problem with the multi-function switch. The multi-function switch is a single housing that contains a number of different switches. Look at it this way; anything that you can turn on by the steering column’s left lever, is part of the multi-function switch assembly.
The actual test procedure is a bit drawn out, with a number of ohmmeter pin checks; measuring resistance values with the switch in different positions.
The things to try on your own, would be to play with all the different functions of the switch and see if by holding something; like the flash to pass on, while turning the signals on and see if they (signals) will begin working. I have seen the hazard switch on these stick in limbo, between on and off; which will prevent the signals operation. Yes the hazard switch is part of the multi-function.
I’m not saying beat the crap out of the switch(s); but be a bit aggressive with the switch(s); while your playing.
There is of course the combination flasher unit; that could also be the problem and the test procedure for it is quite simple; this is a quote right from the service manual. “Replace combination flasher unit with known good; if signals begin to function; replace flasher unit” Do you think; no lets put the old one back and keep looking elsewhere. LOL
You’ll find the flasher in the under dash power distribution (fuse) box. If the hazard lights are still working; follow the clicking noise and that’ll be it. I know; you maybe thinking if the flasher is working for the hazards then it has to be good. No; the signals and hazards have their own inputs into the flasher; one may work without the other.
There are a few other things that could be causing this issue; but trying to explain them to you here in text only; would be like trying to explain how to tie your shoelaces for the first time, you've ever tried.

Messing around down at the fuse box I found the issue of a wire just not fully plugged in. Thank you for the help and reason to look harder down there
