’97 Accord: Dash gauges not working Sign In

I've replaced the hazard switch that was broken when the radio was ripped from the dash of my 1997 Accord DX. The turn signals and hazards are now working again.

However, I have no gauges -- speedometer, RPM, etc., and the rear defroster light does not come on when I press the button.

The car sat for a week and I needed a jump start to get it running again. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the gauges no longer functioning.

What do I need to do to repair this problem? Is there some sort of wiring involved?

Looking at the two different wiring diagrams for the instrument cluster and the rear window defroster the only thing in common that I can see is that they are both grounded in the same place.
Supposedly under the center console there’s a main ground for a number of different in car electrical items. Without seeing your car in person that’s where I would start looking?

Dan, it turned out to be a fuse, perhaps blown during the jump start. The dash gauges are working again.

However, there's a new problem. The Emission Control dashboard sensor is now lit.

The timing is suspicious, and from what I've read, there may be some sort of relationship between the sensor and the fuse that controls the gauges.
