My 04 Dodge has suddenly developed an electronics issue, (I suspect computer but, don't know that).

A couple of weeks ago I had to replace the main battery - shortly after, all this started. The (OTIS) console, (two overhead dome lights up front), stay ON all the time now. Key in or out - doors opens or closed - idling or sw. off, the dome lights stay on.?. I finally removed the two lenses and popped the lamps out on one end. note: checked lamp switches and they turn on and off correctly -but, bulbs stay lit .?. How can this be? Switch manually on or manually off, but light stays on.??? The only thing that does not have to make sense is the on-board computer.

I do not have a repair manual for the SUV and do not know how or where to disconnect its computer and reconnect it for a cold reboot, (with the hope of, resetting it to its default settings.

My adventure is slightly more involved than this but, good answers to the above part may clear the other secondary issues tooSmile.

Thanks,

RG Harris

Are the dome lamps in the rear and the lift gate lamp on also?

R G Harris: Not sure what is wrong but know this. When replacing or even to clean up terminals of a battery use or get one and know how to use it, a "memory saver" some just plug into a power port/cig lighter so the vehicle doesn't forget stuff.

This IMO doesn't make sense with the "reading" lamps is what I call them which shouldn't be involved but somehow if at exact time there's something to do with them. Wonder why most techs are bald and throw things in anger? Guess no more,

T
