I recently replaced an evaporator core on a 2009 Focus SE. The dashboard had to be removed for this. After putting everything back together, the radio controls are not working. The radio come on, and can be controlled with the steering wheel controls, but the controls on the actual radio itself do nothing. With a scanner I pull a code U0255 - No Communication with FIDM (Front Integrated Display Module). This is the flat control panel that is the front of the radio. Using Mitchell's instructions on diagnosing this code the wires checked out and it said to replace the FIDM. I tried another FIDM and get the same result. I'm not understanding how this thing could have broken in the first place. I barely touched it when I removed the dash. Anyone else seen this?

Go back over your work and make sure you didn't forget to attach a ground somewhere, usually behind the kick panels. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

If you have the premium system, the ground for that additional module is at the left end of the dash, near the bulkhead connector.

Thanks! I already checked the black/violet wire at the radio and it showed a good ground. I will double check at the other end just to be sure.
