This car not sold where most of the regulars are from here but not important - the five years sitting is the problem. Oil was dry to oil pan (sump) and should have been assertively tended to for that time or at least started on some schedule. Either or more, if stored outdoors you are in trouble. If dry and indoors it might correct with some use and new oil, oil and or some solvent and oil down spark plug holes (just a little) and change oil again if/when noise goes away. That's near certainly "storage rot" and even brand new cars croak engines over it if just left OUTSIDE too long. Condensation get in and inside rusts - not certain what will survive that and what won't in a couple years never mind FIVE, T

May or may not snap out of it. Storage seems better than plain outdoors. Again, this lack of use rot by many nick-names kills engines usually in 1-2 year for OUTDOOR totally unused/started engines. ALL oil drains down exposing bare metals. Plain day and night temps and or seasonal temps condensation (water) will get on bare unprotected metals. If that is at or where it is just slight (doesn't take too much) it could just wear in and be OK. Seems like since smoking quit it might have a good chance. Late for this car but there were some things that could have been done before first start up - some quite extensive knowing it sat what would near certainly happen to it. Again: This happens to about millions of brand new cars around the world - lost to be crushed and recycled with flat/bad batteries, tires flat, bad gasoline, sun damage and so on. Indoor alone better and climate controlled including humidity and proper storage the best. It's done, you've run it so it IMO is either going to make it or need real or some work. Battery even if it charged and worked should get tossed. Look for flat spots on tires too which you would feel if left on surface not hoisted. Not into many additives but OK to use just a little solvent type and burn out what it had for new. Probably a new fuel filter in order as well. Sorry for the medical problems - the car is just a car but they really don't like just sitting. Cross fingers and my suggestion is use it and fix what happens. I wouldn't declare it dependable for a good while till any and all bugs lurking show themselves or not with use now. Check fluid levels frequently for a good while too. One more for this post - check spare tire pressure! Tom

Right - Cross your fingers for good luck. Even if some real problems then may be practical to repair vs (yikes) new engine! Look for a private message with a link to destroyed new cars about this! Tom
