i just replaced my main bearing and rod bearing in my 97 eagle talon esi and i have a knock ever sense the first start up start up . i checked timing and thats perfect .all valve train cam ect. are in working order . so i pulled my oil pan off thinking that i must have spun or stacked a bearing. but i checked all four of the rod bearings and there still like brand new what could be wrong. ohh. and i got the right size beraings i had them measured . and i did not turn the crank shaft. . i orgnail took the engine out because it blew the head gasket .sence the motor wasout . and the engine had 289000 + mlies on it i decided to go thru it

You may have "gone through it" but you obviously missed something in the process. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

you can just replace main bearings without machining the crank.. Did the old bearing spin??.. if it did you journal could be undersized and the rod it self could be damaged.

you would have been better leaving it alone.. check oil pressure make sure pump, pickup is installed correctly. You will have to get a oil pressure gauge through a loan a tool program.

Ya i got beautiful oil pressure. Pickup tube has new gasket it only goes on one way..would the pistons not going back in the cylinders they came out of be the reason. Just a thought

Yes along with other things.. some rods are cracked which means all the pices broken to only fit that part in one direction.. so if you mixed up all your parts you might be in trouble.. also pistons might be a different sizes for different cylinders.. some also have to be installed a certain direction. See if the rods and caps are numbered you might get lucky..
