Search Auto Parts Search golf mk2 squealing noise when driving Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Engine and Car Noises kmaddz22 New User Oct 24, 2011, 9:58 AM Post #1 of 3 (2830 views) golf mk2 squealing noise when driving Sign In golf mk2 1990 gti 8v owned for 12 years been off the road for 2 years but starts first time every time just got it ready for mot driving to station drove about a mile when it started squealing if i dip the clutch it stops and at low revs driving its not as bad but if i drive it fast its really bad is this just likely to be the alternator belt as its been standing for some time i have a new water pump from ages ago that i never fitted think there may have been a water leak pointed out to me but not saw any water leaking since so never changed it. thanks for looking any help/advise is really appreciated kind regards keith Sidom Veteran / Moderator Oct 24, 2011, 7:53 PM Post #2 of 3 (2789 views) Re: golf mk2 squealing noise when driving Sign In Well since it's been sitting for so long, the belts would be a good place to start. Check them out, if they're cracking or look bad change them out, if they look good readjust them....
