when car is started loud clicking coming from under passenger side (98 crown vic) will slow and stop when ac/heat/defrost is turned off. also ac sometimes will blow hot and heat/defrost sometimes cold.

A blend door problem would be my guess. A lot of cars have electric actuators that control the blend door position. Chances are, the door is broken/stripped where the actuator connects. Some are relatively easy to fix, others require Toms' duct tape for mouth.

I agree - probably blend door but hasn't been real common on that car for me. MotorheadII has it and it must be checked to at least rule it out. ? What is "Tom's" duct tape? I don't sell that! ___________________________________________________ Just funny..... Only two things are needed to fix anything...... If something moves and shouldn't use duct tape, If it should and doesn't, use WD-40, LOL,

"Toms duct tape" is a reference to another thread in which you advised that one should put tape over ones' mouth to keep from using bad language while getting a lock plate keeper off a steering column. They say forgetfulness is the first sign of advancing age.

Good advice Tom.... by the way "duct tape" is the best. I like the saying you could fix anything with enough duct tape.
