Ticking and dinging in the dash

My car is a 97 Olds Cutlass (not supreme) and over the last few months it has drivin me crazy with an uncontrollable ticking and dinging. It makes the sound that it would when the blinker is on and occasionally when the door is open with the key in. I believe I have a short but don't know where to start. It doesn't do it all the time and it will stop for a couple of seconds after I use my blinker. Thank YOu for your time. It makes me want to drive into telephone pole it is so annoying.

Not sure? I'd try pulling out the flasher and probably replace it or swap it with the four way hazzard flasher for a test if they are the same. Didn't some of these cars have a system to make the ding, ding sound if the blinker was on too long? It's seems like that's the general area of this problem. The phone pole should be avoided for now
