For the past 3 weeks, I have been hearing a loud static noise coming from my passenger side of my car. It sounds like static and sometimes it goes from sounding as if disconnected wires are touching each other. (Kinda scary) I recently got new brake pads and rotors about the same time the time the noise started. (Actually the noise started the day after the pads were put on)

The noise comes on every now and then and when it does it is VERY loud then gets softer then goes away for maybe 5 min and comes back loud again. I can't even turn on my radio because the noise is too loud for me to hear.

It doesn't make the noise every single day but comes back maybe once or twice a week...but for these last 3 days it has been non-stop...so maybe its getting worse.

The car actually runs fine with the noise. I have noticed that I dont even have to turn the engine on for the static noise to start. Sometimes I turn off the engine and just turn the key to turn on the radio and it still makes noise! So maybe it doesn't have anything to do with the engine.

My service engine light has been coming on for 2 mths now and I just got it checked and my mechanic said I need cam sensors and some other kind of sensors but he couldnt diagnose the noise because it wouldnt come out to play when he was checking the car. So I dont know if my car needing the sensors have anything to do with the noise or what?

What do you think this noise is and how can it be fixed...and is my car going to blow up if I keep driving it!?!? Mad
