Squealing upon acceleration AFTER shop visit Sign In

I have a 1997 Honda Civic LX with just over 59,000 miles on it. I had an oil change and wheel balance two weeks ago, immediately after which I noticed my car makes a squeaking noise upon acceleration. It's not incredibly loud and doesn't last for more than about 5 seconds, but it was not occurring before my visit to the shop. Additionally, they rotated my tires, resulting in an incredibly loud riding sound. My tires were getting pretty worn anyways and the loud sound was the last straw for me so today I had new tires put on, but the squealing sound remains. On top of that, my car has been idling at a lower than normal rpm, occasionally with a little vibration. I've had this looked at multiple times at 3 different shops with no one yet able to find anything obviously wrong. It's also started running louder than normal (I've had muffler issues in the past). Any advice on what to do about the squealing and what else could be wrong? Everytime I take it somewhere, they tell me it's fine, but I drive it every day and I know something is not right. It would be nice to go in with something specifically for them to look at.

The squeeling may be a slipping alternator belt. With a low idle as you take off the alt works hard for a few seconds to make up and can squeel the belt. Feel how tight it is. If you spray some WD-40 on the belt and it shuts up for a while the belt and or tension is a problem. Any car needs a good battery and if it's weak the alternator works hard but still shouldn't make noise if belt is ok.

Whatever it is, get the idle corrected as that doesn't help anything,

T
