Hi, i have a kia rio ice, 2004 plate with approx 25000 miles.
Recently there has been an intermittent scraping noise from what appears to be the drivers rear side wheel.
There is no pattern to the noise, i have tried speeding, driving slowly, going over bumps, cornering etc. etc. but this does not make the noise come or go, there is no scraping when braking or when pulling away.
I can even be driving on flat at 10mph or 70mph & it will start for what appears for no reason, then it will go off again.
Any advice please before i take it to the garage & get stung.

Monkey; You should remove that wheel and take a look. If this has drum brakes in the rear, could be a spring or a piece of hardware has come loose. Or, a wheel bearing problem.
As far as getting 'stung', I think you did that when you bought a Kia.

The sting aside - 25,000 miles isn't unusual to need brakes. They need to inspected,

Kia's actually aren't too bad for the price range..... I know you're just kidding around.

But what has impressed me with Hyundia/Kia is their tech support. They are they only manufacturer that has a totally free tech sites. Everyone else charge$$$$$.

Their quality has definately improved over time.

If you remember when Hyundia 1st came out in the US back in the 80s...... Now there was a pile of junk. A new Excel handled & drove like a 10 year old B210
