Saturn making noise by front right tire Sign In

I've noticed my car has been making a rubbing/vibrating noise coming out of the front right tire. There are several conditions that cause this from what I've observed.

1-Only happens when I turn left and go over bumps, so it seems it's only when that front right suspension moves up/down
2-Only happens when it's colder outside and it goes away after about 10-15 minutes of travel.

I've checked to see if something was rubbing against the tire but found nothing that could cause that. I had the wheel bearing checked out and it was bad so I went and had it replaced, but I took it out for a drive and it was still making that noise.

It's a 94 Saturn SC1

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did the new wheel bearing solve anything? A CV joint can make noise, usually on turns at first with some accelleration but usually starts as a crackling sound.

If so you generally get the entire half shaft which has both inner and outer CV joints and new boots which is the way to go if so, T

Changing the wheel bearing didnt get rid of the noise, though it was bad and needed to be changed.

However, after paying closer attention to the noise, I realized that the vibration/noise increase pitch as the engine revs up, NOT as the wheels spin faster, though I notice it more when the car is moving. That makes me believe that whatever is making the noise is not a rotating part.

Arggh! Tough to say thru a keyboard but this is a rotating parts as that's about the only thing it could be. Trouble is there are tons of parts that rotate and can make noise in a vehicle.

Locating a noise can be difficult. It could be from the other side of the car and throw you all off as to where to look.

So far I would say this is a CV joint problem and the nasty of it is you have to take them out to really check them!! The half shaft that is.

They will make noise long before any vibrations so you might be able to just jockey it around and find it. Keep us posted. This won't heal on it's own, T
