Hi guys,
I have a Ford falcon Gli 4.0i car which i bought about 2 months ago. Its a used car and 1995 model.
My problem is that few days back it statred making weird noises from the engine when i turn my car or even the car is still. So i asked one of my neighbours and he told me that i better check my transmission oil box, so i checked and found that it was empty, so i bought transmission oil for a shop and fill it. But after an week the oil box is empty again and the car has started making noises again. So i checked the places where i park my car and founded that it has a leakage in transmission oil box in the bonnet. So my question is that is there a chance that i can get the box reapired or do i need to buy a new part. And how much that box costs in Australia.
Thanksyou guys
JOC

JOC; From your description, sounds more like a power steering fluid loss? The reservoir is under the bonnet.
Besides the plastic reservoir, you will have a pressure line and a return line connected to it. Any of those can leak.
Also, the front seal on the pump can leak. If it is the reservoir or the front pump seal, it is easier, and usually cheaper to replace the unit with a reman. You should be able to clean the pump and surrounding area with hot water, let it dry, fill the reservoir, then have a mate turn the steering wheel with the engine running, and watch for a leak.
The automatic transmission has two cooling lines running from it to the radiator. Those lines can also leak at either end or if they've rubbed against something and caused a hole in the line. Also, where they connect at the radiator...could even be the fittings in the radiator, itself. Again, clean the affected area, start the engine, and watch for a leak.

As Loren suggested this is likely a power steering issue/leak and you need to locate just what is leaking. There are several area that could leak and no way to guess costs till it's known what and where -- anything from tightening up a clamp to replacement of a major unit.

Check and fill the reservoir that is low no doubt as per owner's manual with proper fluid. Freqently automatic transmission fluid is used for power steering also but check. DO NOT ADD FLUID TO IT UNTIL YOU ARE SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE ADDING TO AND WHAT TYPE OF FLUID YOU HAVE OR NEED TO GET!

Tending to this right away will save some money as if it is low fluid it can burn up the power steering pump which might be fine now and add to the cost if it fails also.

Cars cost money - no avoiding that ......
