I have a 2013 Camaro and it has only 9k miles on it.

Can anyone PLEASE help me identifying the sound or where does it come from :(

I can't make that show as you must have intended? Showed a car crash in L.A. California and don't think that's what you meant.


Need a direct link format or another here to hear this.


Other: Unless warranty rules are different where you are wouldn't anything wrong/defective if so be under full warranty still by a new car dealer for these?

I already took the car to the dealership and they made an excuse that the sound comes from the aftermarket headers, but am 100% sure its not.

now I was suspicious the sound is coming from the AC compressor belt and when I told them, they said they will change it. But thats my idea not theirs and not sure if that will fix it. And honestly I don't want them to change anything that is working well since the car is new.

Never mind now as it sounds to me in just that 35 seconds to be a belt driven noise. Now that you've destroyed the engine by altering it in any way YOU OWN IT and would be blamed for about anything engine under warranty IMO.


No matter now. What to do is remove belt and see if the noise changes or goes away just quickly for a test. While belt off spin each item and feel for troubles. Good bearings have zero freeplay or real feel at all by themselves. Other is somehow belt itself is just noisy even if OE it could be. Two tests might show that but first make certain it's in perfect plane with all pulleys on a belt. Spray it with plain water it may shut up for a couple seconds. Spray it with WD-40 and it may shut up longer if a belt to pulley (big word) resonant noise.


If testing shows a bad component replace that one. If just belt noise at all replace belt with a named brand that claims quietness. Both Dayco, and Gates make such belts on purpose and others no doubt.


Think hard about putting the OE manifolds back on as I'd bet big time those headers do nothing but harm the performance, cause other noise, let too much heat near other items including any wires, plastics and more.


If noise is NOT a belt driven anything listen for it with a listening rod or mechanic's stethoscope may find it.


If an A/C noise from improper refrigerant charge for any reason it would change sound when A/C on and A/C off as seen at hub on the compressor not just any controls inside this new or not watch it. If way too cold it wouldn't come on at all but that's somewhere below 20F or so after sitting a good while.


If noisy with compressor running it might have failed some already inside. It's place low in this system (many are) and makes the chance of choking on oils higher. Too new a vehicle for a track record of that problem for me or possibly any TSB = technical service bulletin about it. I doubt that problem just because but keep it in mind if kept as a super low mile vehicle it might not like long periods of sitting?


See what you can come up with for the source with those tests. Belts are general quite easy to remove or at least put totally out of the way on many designs. DO NOT RUN IT LONG WITHOUT A BELT!

In the dissertation I did say warranty might (likely) be void by messing with engine at all even if not true they would have an excuse to not cover about anything. Just wrestling OE manifold out however done and new ones in could have bumped or who knows what in doing that?


You may be surprised also as it would be "dealer's choice" now.


One more if you catch this is look hard at the belt. It might be damaged or have a bad spot you can see. Should be that expensive but if it broke it could be!


I have absolutely known belts that can make wild noises both new and originals. The car maker doesn't make a lot of a car. Parts of the sort would go out for the best bid to who can make them to whatever specs for the least cost possible like about anything.


Some aftermarket items are in fact better than OE, some not. Alterations almost always not an improvement. Think. If headers at all made a real difference in performance while maintaining all other functions they would have done it new,

It seams that the AC compressor belt split on the front side edge which makes the noise.

Also before I do anything in the car I did some research about the after market parts, Headers, exhaust or intakes will not void the warranty for the car. Tuning the car and change the car program will.

I did asked the dealership before installing and they confirmed it.

Had to take out that link to another forums but in short it said what you did, it's not already a common problem already posted about all over the web. However most new car owners wouldn't mess with an engine either till off warranty either.


There may be no connection and just bad luck of a bearing or belt?


Notes: Been ages upon ages but worked for a new car dealer for a while. Hated it for one. The car maker doesn't want to hear of a single problem with their stuff and only allows so much time or tries to do warranty work and the car maker sets the amount of time and money they'll pay which is way under what you get from a walk in customer wanting something done and downright unprofitable for the dealer so the hate it.


If they find a common bearing or pulley something to just enough the company will go after the maker and become a recall on maker of the part unless proven the specifications lacked something.


There's nothing worse than ticking off a new car buyer so it's a rock and hard place. You also are unlikely to get the most experienced tech with higher pay for warranty work both OK and not. The newbie at a shop might be fresh out of trade school but lacking tons of hands on time.


Do beware of aftermarket anything as they get away with wild claims that are totally unproven or downright lies and the buyer can't prove anything on their own. That's why most will advise avoid any of it, engine or other anything not engineered by the car maker.


Worst offenders are the bottled junk claiming to do or fix anything in a bottle --- just pour it in and it's all fixed! You know that's bull. Good luck finding this noise,

OK - Playing footies with who is posting and looking at what. I let the YouTube on a 2011 similar car thing go. It does tend by that to show a common issue with the A/C belt and there will be an improved one for it no doubt.


Again, good luck that it only that and problem over with. Do let us/this site know if that is done and did fix the noise for you,
