Hello and thank you for reading/answering. I overfilled my engine oil and drove around a bit with it. I'm going to drain the oil, should I drain it all and refill it or only the excess? Also is there anything else I should do to prevent problems? It's a Hyundai Elantra touring 2011, although my engine is not 2011 it's a later model not sure which one. There was also some oil splatter on top of engine and around it. It didn't make any noises I'm aware of but it's been very windy and hard to hear, also I noticed there wasn't as much power for going up hills and going above 100km in general. I needed to drive it for to work and didn't realize how bad that could be. Thanks again for any input!

You don't mention how much overfull it is.

An extra quart is not great but it probably won't do any harm. Any more than that and it will create problems. You should get it down to the proper level right away.

You don't have to drain it all out. If you're able just drain a small amount and get the drain plug back in, that would be fine although it may be difficult to do.

? Also, by how much. OMG get it out yesterday! It lost power going up hills? I take it fine before this mistake?

Oil is too cheap just dump it knowing exact liters/quarts minus a filter you could just add to 1 liter/quart low, run it, wait and check where it is.

Trouble already happened IMO can't know extent or if real damage so do this right away.

Reason there's a "Safe" range for engine oil is it sloshes to back taking off, to front braking. Also how it's parked if a wild angle should take that but NOT under any of those situations.

IDK there are suction pumps to remove thru dipstick tubes if quickly available count how much comes out isn't going to empty it better do it all over again and really hope nothing permanent,
