Sign In Vehicle: 2007 Honda Accord 4-cyl/automatic, 63,000 mi. Took vehicle to brand-name tire center and replaced 3 tires. Inside of 4 days, i noticed squeaking noise when backing up and when making turns. This problem did not exist before i replaced the tires. Spoke with store mngr. and he insists that the new tires have nothing to do with the squeaking. "Bring it back and let's take a look at it" he says. Don't think so, I says. I bought the car brand-new and all required maintenance is up to date. Help. Need some advice. Sign In Contrary to popular belief, when a mechanic changes a fan belt, that does not make him responsible for a differential failure. I don't think that's the cause for noise but two matching ones belong on the front anyway on this car. Couldn't guess what type of wheels but trim parts might make noise, the contact between especially an alloy wheel and hubs can be a trouble spot even just rotating tires. You may have a lurking brake issue that just removing the wheels exacerbated or some weak part of anything to do with brakes was ready to go. Anti rattle stuff, sometimes pads separate from the metal backing and more. I doubt this is really the tire place's fault but just bad luck. Can't say and would have to see it. Another possibility: Depending on how hoisted and what material the dust/water shield is behind the rotors if metal they can bend and be just close enough to make noise barely touching. Those can be bent accidentally while hoisting but most can just be pushed back a bit by hand if you find that. I'd chase down the noise no matter why it happened. A sudden bent shield if so would be mechanic error but hardly worth making a scene over. Sign In That is a classic sign of brk pad warning sensors & at 63k that is right in the area of needing brks... You need to give people the benefit of the doubt here. Just because someone does the most basic of service to you car doesn't automatically put them on the hook for any & all problems that happens afterwards.
