Hi everyone, My younger sister has a 2002 Mazda Tribute, 3.0 V6, 2wd with 140k miles on it and it has started giving her some problems. I already tuned it up, replaced the egr system, and a few other small repairs but now im told it has a much bigger problem. I have not had a chance to look at it myself yet but i figured id start the thread early so there would be time to get some opinions before i start working on it. I am told that it is a very loud roaring / humming noise that starts when the car is driving, not when it is still, and only starts when you reach 25 mph and higher, no less than 25mph. It gets louder with speed and stays evev when you let off the gas. It roars even with the speed similar to the sound of the rpms being to high for the gear its in. The car transmission seems to be shifting and reaches above 60mph without any problens (other than the noise). There is no vibrations or feel from this in the steering wheel and the noise does not seem to be coming from one specific area or side and does not make any audible clicking or pinging noises, nor does it make a whining or whistling noises, it just makes the sort of deep roaring noise. To be it sounds like friction or vibration from the cv joint or possible a bearing. What do you guys think of this so far?
