Jeep Liberty makes loud "pop" type of

noise whenever I turn the steering wheel sharp right. It is loud, scared the crap out of me the first time I heard it. Now it also has little pop pop pop noises whenever I just turn normal from one street to another, doesn't matter which direction. Had a front end alignment about six months ago. and had a steering knuckle replaced on the left side about a year ago. Any clues what this is?
