Help...ticking noise.. Login - Sign Up

I have 96 pontiac grand am. I have a ticking noise that is not consistant so it's hard to diagnose. I usually only hear i when I start the car after it has been sitting overnight. The oil is fine. But when I notice this ticking the speed of it increases as I push the gas while sitting in park. it also seems to want to hesitate when I try to go. It feels like a something might be sticking, but not sure what. It usually goes away within about 20-15 miles. Sometimes when I start the car it dosn't do it at all which means by the time I get it anywhere to be checked out my mystery noise is gone.Any ideas on what to look for or check???

Does this engine have a timing belt? V6 should have a chain and 4cyl should be a belt. How many miles has it been since it was changed? More than 60 it's time. If a chain they go lots longer.

Gotta find out if it has one and get that checked or replaced,

Thank you. The next day I wastold to try some Risolene because the ticking was one of my lifters. That has fixed that problem for now.

Since that additive seemed to work I suggest changing oil more often and use the best you can find. You might be in time to avoid a costly repair,
