'99 cavalier ticking when accelerating and cold. Sign In

I have a 1999 cavalier 2 door. Its a 3 speed automatic. I believe that its the 2.2 L ohv I4(but Im not sure the engine has 2000 in big numbers across it). It has recently started making a clicking noise from the engine when I accelerate. It wasnt very noticeable at first, I was the only one who could notice it over the engine noise, and I only noticed it when accelerating slowly because otherwise the engine noise would cover it up. But, It has been getting louder. It seems to be louder the colder it is outside(Im not sure if its the cold or if the problem is just getting worse tho). I cant really tell where the noise is coming from, it just seems like the middle of the engine(but Ive only heard it from the inside of the car). I have no experience with cars, so Im worried about it making it through the winter, I have verry little cash right now, so I dont want to take it to a shop unless it is something that will ruin the car.

There are a few other noises Im worried about(like a constant light grinding noise when its in gear, kinda sounds like tire roar like when you get new tires but from the engine while not moving, and a kind of squealing that happens when Im not accelerating), but I'd like to get at this one first. Let me know If I need to explain anything better :). Thanks for the help. It is getting a lot louder now Im worried that my car isnt going to last through the winter, is there anything that I can do?
