Ok have taken the car to the mech. several times and they find nothing wrong. The problem is intermitten and getting more constant. After you push the gas pedal down when you let up it makes a noise. It sounds like metal clanking/ratteling. it happens any time when it feels like it. Cool engine or hot.

Just to take a wild stab at this it might be a rusted heat shield on a catilytic converter especially if everything else seems normal. They can make quite a raket and if they are mostly there I've just fixed them with stainless steel hose clamps stacked up to reach around. If they are really trashed check for replacements but I don't think they make them. If trouble finding try tapping on exhaust with a rubbler hammer and the noise should show up if that's it. T
