Please bear with me, this is hard to explain...

I did nothing to it and nothing lead up to it....but recently, when I pull away from standstill, the car doesn't seem to accelerate smoothly. Its as if its gulping for air, making small tugs forward until it gathers speed and then it gets better. But even after pulling away its as if I'm hitting small bumps in the road. Its not hectic jerks. More like irregular gulps. As if the petrol doesn't go through(I don't know much about cars) or the pedal isn't getting the message through.

It reminds me of the effect you get when you open the tap and there's air in the pipe. But more subtle.

I don't expect an immediate solution. If at least I could narrow it down to what it possibly is. Like if you could start by telling me what it definitely is NOT...even that would help.

The car is really going to have to be inspected. It sounds like it might be misfiring but it could be other things too. If the plugs and wires are old, I would start there.

Lou; In addition to Hammer's advice; If you haven't had the injectors cleaned, do so. They should be cleaned every 40K miles.

I'll be sure to have it looked at and post my findings...

Turned out it had to do with the spark plug wiring...The cable (or is it wire?) was old.
