Both daughters attend college 2 hours away from home and away from me and my tools!

First car is a 98 grand prix 3800 with 132k on the odometer . Power steering was very noisy and then I added fluid. Noise went away. Noticed power steering was leaking, but could not find where the leak originated. Instructed my 21 year old daughter on adding fluid should it get low again, which it did and started making noise again. She filled it up and it would stop the noise, but now the car continues to make the same low fluid noise even though the reservoir is full. (I warned her not to overfill!!)

Question (1): Is the pump shot and (2.) Where could it be leaking from ?? Why is it making that low fluid noise if it is full ?? ALSO - She describes another problem that I am going to assume is steering related but makes no sense to me whatsoever- here goes, After stopping at a stop sign she begins to move forward on a straightaway and the car accelerates and drives normally (except for the power steering noise). BUT! - If she attempts to make a right or left turn after stopping she says the car is extremely sluggish, lacks power and will hardly move until she is able to straighten out the steering wheel !! I just don't get that one at all !!

Any ideas ??

Second car is a 96 Buick century 3100 V6 with only 70k. This car also has developed a noise when she turns the wheel to the left only. She describes the noise as loud and screechy, but only when the wheel is turned to the left. No noise when she is driving in a straight line. A Hub/bearing noise perhaps ??

More noise: I've got a lot of noise coming from 2 daughters and that's why I need some help. Any advice on repair is surely appreciated. Thank you again. John Carroll

First car: Pump probably shot from running low too often. Leak could be anywhere and needs to be seen. Perhaps pressure hose to rack or the rack itself. Pump probably needs to go along with the leak fixUnsure

Second car: Hub/bearing is not usually a screech sound but isn't ruled out. Perhaps the sensor for brakes is just beginning to touch as there is some torque on rotor when turning on the rotors. The noise from a brake low wear sensor is a screeching obnoxious sound on purpose and usually will be quiet when brakes are applied. First heard when turning, then more often and shut up when braking is common. IMO when those can touch and sound off there isn't much left. Simple visual check would tell if it/they are close enough to touch,

First Car: Theres always the chance you're really lucky and there is just air in the system. It probably is shot by now, but its worth a try. Just have her turn the wheel from one stop to the other, check the fluid, add as needed, and repeat this a few times. If you're lucky, this might take care of it.
