when auto is started there is a "clanging" noise that lasts for maybe a second or two. It is only noticeable when you crank it to start.

Can you record the noise and upload it to a video hosting site and then paste the link? Maybe listening to it will give us some ideas. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I am not that capable with the comp. I think it is the starter trying to act up because it only makes it when I start up the car. Is that possible.?

Don't know. Hard to give you an accurate answer without listening to it. Could be anything causing that noise. Could be the engine knocking due to oil pressure drain back problem, timing chain slapping around, exhaust rattling, ac compression slugging, component loose under the hood, loose starter motor, monkey throwing pineapples at the exhaust pipe, etc. You could swing into your repair shop and have them take a listen to it. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
