My friend has a 2004 grand prix gtp with a super charger in it. When you put the car in gear it makes a strange farting noise. I believe it to be the traction control but can't be sure. If it is the traction control what could be wrong with it and what is the options of fixing it?

Interesting description!! If the noise is out the exhaust it probably has nothing to do with the transmission, T

I didn't know a car could fart. I guess that's the result of them having gas. Couldn't resist.

When I take off fast and the traction control light comes on it starts making the noise longer but if i'm just starting the car putting into gear it makes the noise but not as long.

Seriously: A vehicle I drove once when icy with the traction control made wild buzzing sounds from the transmission. I found it annoying but it made the car feel like some aweful was wrong.

That was a snow and ice situation.

Comment: Buy snow tires - heaven forbid!
I spent a year in Denver, CO and they have it right! They impose a chain law when traction is an issue. Denver doesn't get all that much snow but within eysight the Rockies sure do!!

The real traction control is staying home till the road crews do their work and tire chains would amaze folks today but were the standard back when. You could climb a tree with them!!!!

Back: There's probably more technology in a newer transmission than there was in a whole car from the 50s and 60s when I grew up. It may be normal, T
